Welcome to Nose Work Passion
Travel to your dog’s world of scent through K9 Nose Work ™
Scent detection training is available for more than just professional detection dogs. Any dog can take part in the scent work classes at Nose Work Passion. No prior experience or training is needed.
These nose work classes are based in the Mission, BC area though students come from all areas of the lower mainland – from Vancouver to the Fraser Valley.
Online classes are available for those living elsewhere.
From exuberant puppies to creaky elders, nose work is truly an all-encompassing dog sport.
Nose work teaches focus, nervous dogs gain confidence, and it burns mental and physical energy as well as improving the lives of dogs with cognitive age issues.
At Nose Work Passion, I work on the foundations through fun games and drills to build an individualized program for each dog and handler.
Strengthening partnerships
Nose work passion is fantastic! My dog and I have loved every minute of her nose work classes. We’ve learned so much, strengthened our bond and had a lot of fun along the way. Brenda’s patient, knowledgeable, and a great teacher! I can’t recommend her enough!

We both love it so much
These scent work classes haver truly strengthened my bond with my dog, River. The classes have been truly amazing helping River become more confident and reducing his reactivity. We both love it so much! Coming to class is our favourite thing to do!

Valuable information
Brenda teaches nose work with the utmost passion and gives each and every student valuable information. It has improved my teams’ journey exponentially and I enjoy each and every class.
Brenda’s insights into all the different dogs and how she applies this knowledge for the sport of Nose Work for each dog is exceptional, whether the student is in the classes for enrichment or competition.

Looking forward to learning more
Brenda introduced Beck and I to a sport we’d never heard of and gave us the foundation, skills and confidence to succeed. Plus, we earned more ribbons than we ever imagined. As the year closes, I just want to say a special thank you. Beck and I are so grateful and look forward to learning more in 2025 with Nose Work Passion.

Enter your dog’s world
Brenda is an excellent nose work teacher, both for my dog Lucy, and for me. Her knowledge and individual approach to each team is why Lucy and I have become better nose work partners.
After overcoming some challenges this year, we started our trialing journey. But the ribbons are not the coolest thing, it’s that, through nose work, I can enter her world … and Brenda is there every step of the way!
Thank you, Brenda, we would not be able to do it without your encouragement and support.

Focus on the dog’s experience and needs
My husband and I have been training with Brenda and very much enjoy her classes. They have a clear framework, direction and progression. Brenda communicates clearly with us about the intent of every session. Brenda also has a wonderful eye for what is going on with the dogs and can offer approaches that make sense for the individual dog AND handler. I have had challenges with one of my dogs and Brenda was able to help us overcome the problem I had created for her with my handling. Her feedback is kind and fun and productive. Most importantly for us her focus is on the dog’s experience and needs.

Excelling in a supportive environment
I am extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from Brenda. She is an exceptionally fair and supportive instructor who genuinely cares about her students’ success. Her teaching style fosters a positive and encouraging learning environment, and it’s clear that she is dedicated to helping each student reach their full potential. Thanks to her guidance, many students, including myself, have excelled in competitions, or have found a new, fun way to connect with their dogs. I greatly appreciate her informative classes, clear explanations, and positive demeanour, which make learning both enjoyable and effective.

Hooked on the sport
I began nose work with my boy Smitten in 2021, we went from knowing very little about nose work to achieving titles in CKC, CDSA, and NASCW. To say the least, we are hooked on this sport. I have Brenda to thank for her expertise in this sport for all of our achievements. Brenda is knowledgeable as a trainer as well as a teacher. Her ability to explain the purpose of an exercise as well as feedback on our training has helped me and Smitten become a strong team.

Developing connection and teamwork
I started nose work classes with Brenda Cox just over 3 years ago, first with my senior dog Java and more recently with my younger dog Vayda. Brenda is a fabulous instructor, sharing her knowledge, giving attention to detail, keeping it fun, observing each handler/dog team and problem solving to meet their individual needs. There is so much to learn as a handler, and the connection and teamwork that develops with our dogs in this sport is amazing.
Thank you, Brenda, and Nose Work Passion. We are definitely hooked!

Building confidence and knowledge
Brenda has made such an impact on mine and my dog’s nose work journey. Brenda has taught us not only the foundational skills necessary for nose work but has also built my dog’s confidence and my knowledge for the sport. Her ability to understand dogs and notice every behaviour is amazing! Thank you, Brenda, for your training and expertise.

Methodical yet fun approach
Ruby and I were in Brenda’s Continuing Odour Classes: we both enjoyed her methodical, yet fun approach to ongoing learning of nose work foundations. I loved how she encouraged me to let Ruby tackle the quest to find odour the way she (Ruby) wanted.

Sequential skills for both the handler and their canine partner
A good instructor of scent work needs to design a curriculum of sequential skills for both the handler and their canine team member. A good instructor needs to provide a variety of environments and diverse problem-solving scenarios. A good instructor needs to both challenge and communicate. A good instructor needs to stay up-to-date on the current NACSW strategies. I highly recommend my scent work instructor, Brenda Cox. Brenda keeps us both challenged and we love it!

A clear plan for each class
Brenda has not only taught all of my dogs how much fun nosework is but I have learned so much valuable information about this sport as a handler. Some of my dogs were older when they were introduced to nosework and some started as young puppies, all of them love going to class.
Brenda has a clear plan for each class and takes into consideration the level of the dogs experience.
I am fortunate to have found nose work passion classes and to have the opportunity to learn from such a knowledgeable instructor.
